Odds are, if you came here for tips on Personal Branding, you're already off to a good start. Two major components to developing a successful brand are awareness and education. I'm certainly no expert, but I've spent the better part of a year developing my own brand and I'm happy to share some key tips I've picked up along the way.

There's no time to waste - you have a brand to build, after all! So let's get down to business.

DON'T

  • Wait for someone to reach out to you. You could miss out an a valuable connection by remaining passive in your own future.

  • Be inactive on social media. Your name should stay top of page for your network to keep you top of mind.

  • Have an outdated LinkedIn profile. Recruiters and contacts alike want to see the most relevant and recent updates of your exciting career.

DO

  • Accept acceptance. Understand the worst thing that someone can do is say no. The fear of rejection should never prevent you from experiencing the joy of acceptance.

  • Stay relevant. Engage in content weekly, whether that's by reacting, commenting, reposting, or best yet - posting original content.

  • Create a website. Building a website is a marketable skill on its own. Kill two birds with one stone by learning the skill while actively applying it to your brand.

  • Leverage your network. Assist others in their career journey even if it does not immediately help you in return. You're likely to be rewarded when you expect it least but need it most.

  • Join new organizations. Whether they're for personal or professional development, being part of something greater will keep your skills sharp and "fulfillment cup" well, full.

  2. Two posts. Craft two original posts that end in a call to action.

Your challenge starts in 3...2...1.
